Alcohol Gift Giving Policy

Delivery methods

Depending on the delivery location (country or state), gifts containing alcohol are shipped via the postal service or delivered by our local delivery agents.

Product substitutions

The contents of each gift basket are subject to local availability. Items may be substituted for others of equal or greater value. In cases where equivalent substitutions are not available, we will contact you to discuss alternative gift options.

Age verification

When delivering any gift containing alcohol, the delivery person must obtain the signature of a person of legal drinking age in the country of delivery.

The legal drinking age is 21+ in the US or 18+ in many other countries. Be sure to send alcohol gifts to a recipient who is of legal drinking age in their country .

If no eligible recipient is present, the delivery person will not leave the gift at the door and will instead make another attempt to deliver it.

Retry policy

If the initial delivery attempt is unsuccessful, we will retry delivery once or twice, depending on the shipping company (some shipping companies may leave the package at a pickup point). Please make sure an eligible person is available to sign for the gift to avoid delivery delays.

If we are unable to deliver to the recipient after attempts by the shipping company, our customer service team will be in touch to discuss next steps.

Legal age confirmation

By purchasing a gift containing alcohol, you confirm that you and the intended recipient meet the legal age requirements, which are 21+ in the US and 18+ in other specified countries. Age verification may be required during the purchasing process.


Call the recipient to arrange delivery

We usually request the recipient's phone number to ensure smooth delivery. Calls are usually made when the delivery is made by a local courier to ensure the recipient is home at the scheduled delivery time.

Please note: In some cases, we do not need to call the recipient. These cases include: when the order is handled by a third-party shipper such as DHL, FedEx or UPS. These services have their own address verification requirements and procedures, over which we have no control.

Delivery area and shipping costs

We deliver to all major cities and towns in the countries served . If you don't see the country you're looking for in the list of serviced locations, we can still check if delivery is possible from our regional center. In these cases, the delivery time may take longer and we will inform you of the new delivery estimate. Please contact us if you are unsure if we serve a specific location.


Delivery attempts

If delivery is attempted by a local courier and is unsuccessful due to the recipient's absence, the gift may be dropped off at the local post office where the recipient can collect it later. In this case, a note will be left on the recipient's door.

Please note: We cannot be held responsible if the recipient does not collect the gift within 2 business days of the date of attempted delivery, which will result in the contents of the gift being spoiled and discarded.

The signature of a person over 21 years of age is required at the time of delivery of the gift of alcohol. The gift containing alcohol cannot be left at the door and delivery will be attempted again if no one over the age of 21 is home at the time of the initial delivery attempt. By purchasing this gift, you confirm that you are at least 21 years old and that the gift recipient is at least 21 years old.

Gift delivery times

Our deliveries normally take place during the day and into the evening. We can deliver from 9:00 am or until 10:00 pm

We can accept requests for a morning or evening delivery, you can make your request by leaving a comment in the comments field while placing your order or by contacting our Customer Service Team, we will do our best to deliver your gift to the desired time, however, we currently cannot guarantee an exact delivery time. If your intended recipient will be at work on the day of your scheduled delivery, we suggest sending the arrangement to the workplace. Please note: an incomplete or incorrect address or phone number may delay delivery.


Gift packaging and containers

The type of gift packaging varies depending on the delivery location and the season. Gifts may arrive in a traditional gift basket, box or chest (all subject to regional availability) and packaged in cardboard for shipping (when necessary).

Sometimes the stuffing and protective packaging on gifts may look different than the images shown, but it is always the highest quality option available regionally to protect your gift during shipping. We reserve the right to substitute basket type, bow color and wrapping at the discretion of the local designer and holiday theme.


Guaranteed delivery days

Delivery dates are guaranteed* for all shipping methods, as described in the chart below. If our courier does not meet the delivery date, we will refund the shipping costs of your order.

*Delivery on Saturdays can be guaranteed in Germany for an additional shipping fee during the weekend.

*Circumstances beyond our control, such as adverse weather conditions, natural disasters, COVID-19 lockdowns and delays, strikes, etc., will void the delivery guarantee. Please note that the delivery guarantee specified by country applies to orders placed before 10 am local time with all necessary address information. Deliveries and shipping methods in the USA

Orders received before 12:00 pm EST Monday through Friday may be shipped the same day or on a requested future shipping date. Orders received after 12:00 pm EST will be shipped the next business day or later.

We provide estimated delivery times for standard delivery** during ordering.


We do not deliver to PO BOX addresses. All deliveries are made to physical addresses only.

Holiday Delivery Information

  3. Delivery Guarantees: Some expedited delivery options, such as express, overnight, or Saturday delivery, may be subject to delays during the holiday season. While we offer these services, please note that exceptional circumstances beyond our control may affect delivery times.
  4. Alternative Options: To ensure your gift reaches its destination on time, we recommend that you consider non-peak holiday delivery or choose our standard delivery option. These options are more likely to provide a smooth and timely delivery experience during the holiday season.


Incorrect recipient information

If delivery cannot be made due to the recipient's address being incorrectly specified, UniversalGiftBaskets.com will not be liable for delays or failures in delivery; therefore, no refund will be possible.

Most of our orders are handled by third party shipper such as DHL, FedEx, UPS or others, so whenever the address is incorrect: updates in their systems and redirection may delay delivery by 1-3 business days OR give lead to a total failure of delivery (when the useful life of the product no longer allows for delays in delivery).

Because of this, we strongly recommend that you double-check the address and specify a working recipient's phone number to ensure timely delivery.

If the recipient has moved or is unable to receive the gift at the location within 2 business days of the delivery attempt: the shipment will be returned or destroyed, so no refund will be possible.

If the recipient's delivery information is incorrect and alternative information is not provided in a timely manner, the order will be canceled as undeliverable and the refund amount will be determined on a case-by-case basis based on the costs associated with the order.


Multiple gifts ordered to the same address

If you have ordered more than one gift to the same address, the gifts may not be shipped from the same fulfillment offices (or warehouses).

Therefore, items may arrive in separate boxes or at different times. We will do our best to match the arrival time of all items in your order, but we cannot guarantee that all items will arrive at exactly the same time; however, we can guarantee that your gifts will arrive on your requested delivery date.

Rest assured: you will not be responsible for shipping costs if items need to be shipped separately.


Order rejected by a recipient

It's rare, but sometimes a recipient may refuse to accept the order for personal reasons or their company policy. In such cases, we will offer you the option to redirect the order to another address or recipient in the same country. If we have incurred costs for processing the order and delivering it to the initial recipient, an additional payment may be requested for redirecting the order. If you do not offer the option to redirect the order to another address or recipient in the same country: no refund will be possible. This is because each item delivered is made to order and many items are perishable and cannot be reused for another order.


Prepayment policy

Quality complaints about flowers, cakes, fruits and other perishable items are only accepted within 36 hours of delivery. A photograph of the goods delivered, clearly showing the damage, must be included as this will help determine subsequent rectification steps.

Our Quality Department may need to contact the recipient for information about the gift delivered or the circumstances of the delivery, as it will help us make a decision on next steps for complaint resolution.

The investigation can take 1-2 business days most of the year. Please note that during major holidays such as Christmas, New Year, Chinese New Year, Valentine's Day and Women's Day, it may take longer due to business closures (up to 5-7 days).
